Police in Maidstone are investigating after a dangerous mastiff attacked a beagle puppy, leaving both the puppy and its owner injured. The incident occurred near the junction of Tonbridge Road and Bower Place.
The attack took place at approximately 5.45pm on Tuesday, 6 April 2021. The mastiff, described as brown-grey and being walked on a lead by a man and a woman, allegedly bit the beagle puppy, which was also on a lead at the time.
The puppy’s owner attempted to intervene during the attack but was hurt in the struggle. Following the incident, the mastiff’s handlers fled the scene.
PC Nathan Weller urged anyone who witnessed the attack or knows the owner of the mastiff to come forward. He said, “There were a number of people in the area at the time. We want anyone who saw what happened or knows who owns the mastiff to get in touch. We also want to speak to two members of the public who helped the victim.”
