On Sunday 15th May 2022, between 7pm and 8:30pm, a derelict care home located on Chestnut Walk in Hungerford was broken into and deliberately set on fire. The blaze caused significant damage before firefighters were able to control it.
The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service responded quickly to the emergency, preventing the fire from spreading further and causing more destruction. PC Hannah Potter from Newbury police station stated, “Had they not been there promptly, the outcome would have been far worse.”
Police are currently hunting for suspects involved in the arson attack. One suspect is described as a male dressed head-to-toe in black clothing. Authorities are urging anyone with information or any footage from the area at the time to come forward immediately.
