Five men have been arrested after a 19-year-old was fatally stabbed in Southampton on 24 July. The tragic attack occurred in broad daylight, prompting a swift police response.
At 12:21pm on 24 July, emergency services were called to Langhorn Road following reports of a serious assault. The victim suffered a fatal puncture wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The family of the victim has been informed and is receiving specialist support during this difficult time.
Police have taken five men into custody in connection with the incident. The suspects include a 46-year-old man from Bursledon, arrested on charges of murder and assisting an offender; two 20-year-old men from Bursledon and Hamble, both held on suspicion of murder; a 23-year-old man from Eastleigh, arrested on suspicion of murder; and a 35-year-old man from Lambeth, also in custody on suspicion of murder. All remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Danielle Daltrey stated: “We take all serious violence in Southampton extremely seriously. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased during this difficult time.” She added that the investigation is ongoing, but police do not believe there is any wider risk to the public.
Officers are currently conducting searches at addresses on Le Marechal Avenue, Southampton, and Westfield Road, Hamble. A police scene remains in place on Langhorn Road, with patrols providing reassurance to local residents.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the attack or noticed any suspicious activity to come forward. They are particularly interested in dash cam, CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage related to the incident.
