Police were called to an alleyway near Manor Close, Horley, at 10:20 pm after a man in his twenties was found with a stab wound.
Two men wearing balaclavas approached the victim from behind, threw him off his bike, dragged him along the ground, and stabbed him once before fleeing the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing the attackers running towards the recreation area near Sangers Walk shortly after the incident.
The victim was taken to hospital and remains in critical but stable condition. Surrey Police have launched an urgent investigation into the attack.
Detective Sergeant Lee Marks said, “We are doing everything we can to identify those responsible and ensure they face the consequences of their actions.”
