Just after midnight on Monday, August 15, 2022, police responded to reports of a serious incident on Claremont Road, Moss Side. Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Javell Morgan suffering from severe injuries. He was immediately taken to hospital but was tragically pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
By Thursday, August 18, police had arrested two men in connection with Javell Morgan’s murder. Jacob Doughty, from Ponyfield Close, Huddersfield, and Simeon Baptiste, from Wellfield Bank, Huddersfield, were both charged with murder on Saturday. The pair remain in custody and are scheduled to appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 22, 2022.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson expressed his condolences, saying, “Our thoughts are with Javell’s family and friends at this heartbreaking time. Specially trained officers and support teams are helping his family, and police will continue to patrol the Moss Side area to reassure the community. Even with charges filed, the investigation is far from over.”
He added, “We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and help bring justice for Javell.”
