Lisa Brown, aged 32, vanished without a trace on November 4, 2015, from her residence in Guadiaro, San Roque, near the luxury resort of Sotogrande in Cádiz, Spain. Originally from Alexandria, Dumbarton in Scotland, Lisa had relocated to Spain to begin a new chapter in her life.
Authorities were alerted four days later when Lisa failed to collect her 8-year-old son from school. Early indications suggested a violent incident occurred at her home prior to her disappearance. The investigation quickly focused on her former boyfriend, Simon Corner.
Simon was questioned by police but fled Spain shortly after. Following his release from custody, he disappeared from the marinas where he was employed working on yachts. Spain’s Civil Guard conducted extensive land and sea searches. Forensic teams sealed off Lisa’s home to carry out DNA analysis, with assistance from UK police.
In April 2016, Simon was arrested in Denmark and extradited back to Spain. Despite being imprisoned, he was later released without any charges filed against him.
Other local individuals have also been questioned and arrested in connection with Lisa’s disappearance. In late 2017, the main suspect breached bail conditions, leading to a European Arrest Warrant. A month later, Simon was arrested upon arrival at Heathrow Airport and was expected to be extradited for trial. However, the case was dropped days later due to insufficient evidence. No charges were brought despite Simon spending six months on the run.
In October 2018, Lisa’s family were hopeful when news emerged that the case against Simon would be reopened. Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed when Spanish legal advisers confirmed that he would not face prosecution.
Authorities continue to appeal to the public for any information that could assist in solving the mystery of Lisa Brown’s disappearance. Anyone with relevant information is urged to come forward.
