Two teenagers were fatally stabbed in South East London in a violent incident on Saturday, 26 November. Police were called shortly after 5pm to reports of stabbings at two separate locations approximately one mile apart in Abbey Wood and Thamesmead.
At Sewell Road in Abbey Wood and Titmuss Avenue in Thamesmead, officers discovered two 16-year-old boys suffering from stab wounds. Despite the prompt response and efforts of the Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, both youths were pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the tragic events, a second murder investigation has been launched. Crime scenes at both locations remain sealed off as detectives work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attacks. Specialist officers are providing support to the families of the victims during this difficult time.
Given the close timing and proximity of the stabbings, police are urgently investigating whether there is a connection between the two murders.
To assist the investigation, a Section 60 order has been put into effect until 8am on Sunday, 27 November. This order grants officers additional powers to stop and search individuals in the area to find suspects and gather evidence.
