Police made a significant breakthrough when they raided Darren Taylor’s home in Everton, uncovering a stash of drugs and a large amount of cash. The discovery followed a vehicle stop in Retford, where officers found bags of drugs and a baseball bat inside Taylor’s car, along with a can of CS spray.
Taylor, aged 39, was stopped on North Road, Retford, on the morning of 18 October 2019. He subsequently pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and possession of offensive weapons.
On Wednesday 23 November 2022, Taylor was sentenced to two years and six months in prison at Nottingham Crown Court.
Inspector Hayley Crawford, District Commander for Bassetlaw, praised the police work involved in the case. She said, “Taylor’s conviction and sentencing came as a result of diligent police work on a complex investigation. It involved a really good joint effort between Retford Neighbourhood Policing Team and Response colleagues.”
Inspector Crawford added, “Criminals like Taylor bring misery to our communities and vulnerable people. We won’t stop pursuing those who fuel drug crime. Everyone has a part to play. If you suspect drug dealing, report it on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
