Firefighters and police officers responded swiftly to a fire at a derelict building on Newcastle Street, Mansfield, in the early hours of 17 October 2022. The blaze, which started at approximately 1.45am, caused significant damage to the unused property.

A joint investigation by Nottinghamshire Police and fire crews has determined that the fire was almost certainly started deliberately. Authorities are now searching for a woman seen on CCTV footage who may hold important clues about the incident.

PC Abigail 1 of Nottinghamshire Police stated, “We have reasons to believe this fire was started on purpose, so we are determined to find whoever was responsible. Arson is an incredibly serious and dangerous offence, which can ruin or even end the lives of anyone unfortunate to be caught up in it. We believe the woman in this picture could have valuable information about what happened, so we would naturally like to speak to her as soon as possible.”

Police have issued an appeal for the public’s help in identifying the woman captured on CCTV. Anyone who recognises her is urged to contact the police immediately, quoting incident 37 of 17 October 2022.

Calls can be made to 101, or to remain anonymous, individuals can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
