A woman in her 50s tragically died after being hit by a vehicle on Newark Road, Ollerton, at around 10.25pm on 8 December. The driver is believed to have struck her before fleeing the scene without stopping.
Paramedics arrived shortly after the incident but were only able to confirm her death at the scene.
Nottinghamshire Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating several leads related to the incident.
Sergeant Mark Baker said, “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends following this tragic incident. We are deploying specialist-trained officers to support them at this difficult time.”
He added, “We’re asking for witnesses and drivers in the area who may have dash-cam footage to get in touch.”
Newark Road remains closed between Kelsey Avenue and Sherwood Forest Crematorium as police continue their investigations.
