Police were called to New Malden High Street at approximately 11.05pm on Thursday, December 22, following reports that a man had been stabbed.

The victim, a man in his 60s, received treatment at the scene from the London Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are not considered life threatening.

A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). He remains in police custody while detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to come forward. Witnesses are encouraged to contact police by calling 101 or tweeting @MetCC with the reference CAD7164/22Dec.
