Police were called to an adult care facility on Glen Road, E13, at approximately 3.45am on Tuesday, 3 January, following reports of a man injured on the premises.

Officers and paramedics arrived at the scene to find a 34-year-old man suffering from head injuries. Despite immediate medical attention, the man was pronounced dead at the location.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command have opened a murder investigation into the incident. They are currently in the process of informing the victim’s next of kin.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at 1pm on 4 January at East Ham Mortuary.

A 21-year-old man, who also resided at the care home, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody as inquiries continue.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact police by calling 101 or by tweeting @MetCC with reference CAD751/03Jan. Information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
