Detectives are searching for a man in connection with a reported rape case in Ashford, Kent. Kent Police have released a CCTV image of a man who could help advance the investigation.
The attack occurred just after midnight on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2023. A woman was allegedly raped in an underpass located between Station Approach and Torrington Road at approximately 12:30am.
The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate promptly launched an investigation following the incident.
The released CCTV image shows a man who was seen on Torrington Road near the time of the assault. Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber commented, “I appreciate this is not the clearest image but I am hoping someone may recognise the man pictured or it may jog someone’s memory about something they saw that night.”
Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area to come forward. This includes residents who have private CCTV footage and motorists with dashcam recordings. Every piece of information could be vital to the investigation.
