Armed police officers conducted a raid on a property located on Spring Lane, Screveton, last Sunday, 8 January, after identifying a suspect believed to be linked to illegal firearms.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a licence and is currently being held in police custody.

This arrest comes after a previous police operation at the same address in October 2022, during which officers seized a shotgun and ammunition in a targeted search.

Detective Sergeant Charlotte Henson of Nottinghamshire Police stated, “The force treats all firearms offences extremely seriously and is committed to taking weapons far away from our communities. We have now arrested a suspect in connection with this incident, but our investigation remains ongoing.”

She added, “Anyone who suspects any firearms activity in their area should always contact the police straight away on 101, or report this to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
