Just after 3.10pm on 31 December, a man was viciously attacked while sitting on Marine Parade near The Dome Cinema in Worthing. The victim attempted to fight back but suffered injuries to his hand and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Early investigations by police suggest that those involved in the incident know each other. However, the reason behind the attack remains unclear as officers continue to gather information to understand what sparked the violence.
During the shocking incident, bystanders stepped in to help the injured man. Police have praised these good Samaritans for their assistance.
Officers are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the attack or has footage from the scene to come forward. Witnesses can report information online or call 101 quoting serial 697 of 31/12.
