A 17-year-old boy has tragically died following a stabbing in Huddersfield’s Kings Mill Lane area early Monday morning. The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) is urgently seeking witnesses as the investigation intensifies.
Police responded shortly after 3.57am to reports of a male found injured on the ground. The victim was rushed to hospital with serious wounds from a bladed weapon but sadly passed away later that morning.
Two males, aged 37 and 14, remain in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. A 19-year-old woman was arrested this afternoon in connection with the case.
The crime scene remains cordoned off, with road closures affecting Somerset Road and Dog Kennel Bank as detectives continue to probe the tragic attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Weekes, lead investigator, said, “I am appealing for witnesses and information from the public and would like to speak with anyone who saw the attack or any suspicious activity in the Kings Mill Lane area between 3.40am and 4am today.”
Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team is patrolling the area to reassure locals. Meanwhile, specially trained officers are supporting the victim’s family during this devastating time.
Detective Superintendent Stuart Bainbridge pledged a strong response to the rising knife crime threat. He said, “We recognise the concern knife crime causes and are working closely with partners, including Operation Jemlock, to clamp down on offenders and keep communities safe.”
