A violent fight broke out outside a store on Gateford Road, Worksop, in the early hours of Saturday, February 25. Police arrived at the scene shortly after 2.30am and found a man in his 30s collapsed on the ground.
The victim lost consciousness quickly and was taken to hospital, where medical staff confirmed he had suffered a fractured skull.
Nottinghamshire Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the brawl or has information about those involved to come forward. PC Chris Putland said: “This was a nasty assault which left the victim in hospital needing urgent care. He has since been discharged and is recovering, but we are determined to find those responsible.”
He added, “We are reviewing extensive CCTV footage and our neighbourhood officers are patrolling Worksop town centre regularly. If you were in the area on Saturday night, please get in touch.”
PC Putland also emphasised, “Such violent behaviour is totally unacceptable, whether it happens in the middle of a busy night or during the day. We will not tolerate it.”
