Vandals have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage in a series of graffiti attacks around Southport’s railway since autumn 2022. These reckless acts have brought train services to a halt and caused widespread disruption across the network.
Sergeant Andrew Richardson condemned the graffiti spree, describing it as far from harmless. He said: “Graffiti might seem like a victimless crime but this kind of damage takes the trains out of action, causes thousands of pounds of damage and has a knock-on effect for the whole network.”
He also highlighted the dangers involved, adding: “It’s also incredibly dangerous. Is this kind of behaviour really worth risking your life for?”
The police are urging anyone who recognises individuals in the images related to the incidents to come forward.
