Just after midnight on Tuesday, March 21, an attempted ATM smash was foiled at the Co-op store located on Woburn Avenue. Around 12.45am, a group of thieves smashed the shop front in a bold effort to steal the store’s ATM, but their attempt was unsuccessful.
The gang, believed to consist of three or four men, used two vehicles during the raid. They fled the scene in a Land Rover Discovery, leaving behind a black Range Rover at the store.
Fortunately, no items were stolen from the store during the incident.
Police are currently investigating the attempted theft and are urging anyone who witnessed the event to come forward. Officers said, “Were you driving on Woburn Avenue around that time? Maybe you caught something on dash cam? We want to hear from you.”
Residents with CCTV or doorbell camera footage showing the vehicles involved are also encouraged to contact the authorities.
