The A27 in West Sussex is currently shut eastbound between the A270 (Holmbush) and A293 (Hangleton) after a multi-vehicle collision caused significant disruption.

Emergency services and National Highways teams are at the scene managing the aftermath and controlling traffic flow. Authorities have warned drivers to prepare for major delays and to consider alternative routes where possible.

For those stuck on the A27, officials recommend following the Hollow Diamond diversion route. Drivers should exit the A27 at Holmbush Interchange onto the A270, continue along the A270 to the A293 junction, then turn eastbound onto the A293 to rejoin the A27 at Hangleton.

Officials urge motorists to allow extra travel time and to reconsider travelling through this section if possible.

For the latest updates, drivers are advised to visit the National Highways website or follow the National Highways regional Twitter feed. Any questions can be directed to the 24/7 National Highways contact centre at 0300 123 5000.

Motorists are also reminded to drive safely, follow official instructions, and expect heavy traffic in surrounding areas well into the evening as the incident is cleared.
