Traffic on the M20 and M26 in Kent has come to a standstill this afternoon following a car crash. A vehicle left the coastbound M20 between junctions 2a and 3 and ended up stranded on an embankment near the M26 junction.
Emergency crews and National Highways teams are currently working at the scene. One lane remains closed, resulting in significant congestion extending onto both motorways. Drivers are experiencing delays of 15 minutes or more, with traffic showing no immediate signs of easing.
Authorities have urged motorists to approach the area with caution as the clean-up operation continues.
The crash was first reported shortly after 1:30pm on February 6. The vehicle left the carriageway and came to rest on an embankment. At this time, details regarding any injuries have not been confirmed, with emergency services yet to provide further information.
Kent County Council’s highways team has warned drivers to prepare for ongoing delays in the area.
