Two lanes of the busy M20 motorway in Kent remain closed after a serious crash involving two heavy goods vehicles. The collision occurred at around 5.37pm on Saturday, January 22nd, between junction 8 (Maidstone East) and junction 9 (Ashford).
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, with paramedics attending to the drivers involved. While the extent of their injuries is currently unknown, reports indicate that they are not serious. However, the tractor units involved in the crash sustained significant damage.
A major clean-up operation is underway, led by specialist recovery firm Manfield’s. The lane closures are expected to remain in place until at least 10.30pm as recovery efforts and road inspections continue.
In addition to this incident, National Highways and police are managing another situation on the M20 between junctions 3 and 4 on the London-bound carriageway. This involves an overseas heavy goods vehicle and a van.
Kent Police have been contacted for comment. Motorists are advised to stay tuned for further updates.
