Chaos erupted on the M4 just before 8:45am today as emergency teams rushed to the scene of a serious crash in Berkshire. Thames Valley Police, Fire, Ambulance Services, and National Highways Traffic Officers are currently dealing with the incident.
Drivers are facing roughly 2.5 miles of stop-start traffic on both approaches to the road closure points. Motorists travelling on the M4 this morning should expect an extra 45 minutes added to their journey time.
Westbound motorists are advised to follow the hollow square diversion symbol. The diversion route requires exiting at Junction 11, taking the 3rd exit onto the A33, then turning left onto the A4. Drivers should follow the A4 and rejoin the M4 at Junction 12.
Eastbound drivers should follow the hollow circle diversion symbol and take the same route in reverse.
Authorities urge all drivers to plan ahead and stay safe on the roads this morning as emergency services continue to manage the situation.
