Traffic chaos has eased as Operation Brock scales back on the M20, with roads reopening following the lifting of restrictions between Junctions 8 and 11. After several days of gridlock, passenger traffic is now flowing on the coastbound M20, providing relief for drivers heading to Kent this Easter.
Restrictions at Brenley Corner and Jubilee Way have also been removed, aiming to smooth journeys for both locals and tourists visiting the region during the holiday period.
The Kent Resilience Forum (KRF) continues to closely monitor traffic management and stands ready to reinstate freight controls if disruptions return. Drivers are advised to plan ahead, check their routes, allow extra travel time, and carry essentials to avoid being stranded on busy roads.
Simon Jones, KRF Strategic Lead, said: “The much-improved traffic flow on Kent’s cross-Channel routes means agencies like National Highways, Kent Police, and Kent Highways can ease Brock controls for the Easter weekend. We’re aware of the disruption’s impact and remain committed to managing traffic carefully.”
Nicola Bell, National Highways Regional Director, added: “The reducing threat of disruption allows us to scale back Brock further. This is great news for Kent’s communities, businesses, and visitors enjoying the Bank Holiday. We thank everyone for their patience while keeping safety our top priority.”
Operation Brock was reintroduced in March due to ongoing reduced ferry capacity at Dover. The scheme was designed to prevent severe gridlock by controlling freight traffic during cross-Channel delays.
