Chaos on the roads continues as emergency services respond to a major incident on the M2 motorway. Kent Police and emergency crews are currently at the scene following a crash involving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and a car.
National Highways Traffic Officers have joined the response team to manage the significant traffic backups caused by the closure.
If you are travelling westbound towards London, it is advised to leave the M2 at Junction 6. From there, follow the solid square diversion signs:
Take the A251 southbound towards the A252 in Challock. At the roundabout on the A252, exit westbound towards Charing. Then join the A20 westbound towards Maidstone and continue to Junction 8 of the M20.
To get back on track, at the M20 roundabout, follow signs for Junction 7 westbound heading for London. Exit at Junction 7 and merge onto the A249 towards M2 Junction 5. At Junction 5, rejoin the M2 and continue your journey.
This closure is causing major disruption across the area. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, or consider altering their plans to avoid being caught in traffic delays. Remember, a delay now is better than being stuck in gridlock later.
