The M20 eastbound is completely closed between Junction 1 (M25) and Junction 2 (Wrotham) following a serious collision involving a van and a crane. The crash occurred at around 1:47pm and has led to a full road closure to ensure the safety of all road users while emergency services attend the scene.

Kent Police are leading the response to the incident. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, are currently at the location providing assistance. Due to the presence of the air ambulance, westbound traffic between Junction 2 and Junction 1 is also at a standstill.

National Highways teams are managing the traffic situation and are holding vehicles on the westbound side until the air ambulance has left the scene. Drivers travelling eastbound are advised to remain in their vehicles and wait for further instructions from authorities. At this time, there is no clear timeline for when the road will reopen.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead and consider alternative routes. It is recommended to divert via the M26 and prepare for significant delays on the M25 near Junction 3 and the M20 at Junction 1. Those travelling through the area should allow extra time for their journeys or consider delaying travel if possible.
