The M20 motorway in Kent is currently closed westbound between junction 9, near Ashford, and junction 8, close to Maidstone. Emergency repair crews are on site addressing a broken drain cover that has caused the closure.
National Highways teams are working diligently to fix the urgent issue and reopen the road as soon as possible. Drivers travelling westbound on the M20 should expect delays and are advised to follow the official diversion signs to bypass the closure safely.
To avoid the closure, drivers should leave the M20 at junction 9 onto Fougeres Way. At the following roundabout, take the fourth exit onto the A20 westbound. Continue along the A20 until reaching junction 8 of the M20. At this roundabout, take the first exit to rejoin the M20 westbound.
Motorists are urged to stick to the diversion route marked with solid square signs to ensure a smooth journey and avoid the closed section of the motorway.
