Two lanes of the M20 motorway in Kent are currently closed following a serious collision involving two heavy goods vehicles. The incident occurred at approximately 5.37pm on Saturday, January 22, between junction 8 (Maidstone East) and junction 9 (Ashford).

Emergency crews, including paramedics, rushed to the scene to treat the drivers involved. Although injuries are not believed to be serious, the impact caused significant damage to the tractor units of the vehicles.

A major recovery operation is underway, with specialist contractor Manfield’s managing the clean-up efforts. The lane closures are expected to remain in place until at least 10.30pm as National Highways carries out a full inspection of the road furniture for any damage.

In addition to this incident, police and National Highways are also responding to another crash on the London-bound carriageway between junctions 3 and 4. This collision involves an overseas heavy goods vehicle and a van.

Kent Police have been contacted for comment regarding both incidents. Motorists are advised to stay tuned for further updates.
