A car went up in flames on the A2 London-bound near Bean, Dartford, on Monday afternoon, prompting a rapid response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
The fire broke out at around 5:40pm on the busy highway but was quickly brought under control, with no injuries reported.
Kent Fire dispatched two fire engines immediately after receiving the emergency call. Firefighters, equipped with full protective gear and breathing apparatus, used hose reel jets and advanced compressed air foam systems (CAFs) to tackle the blaze.
Their swift action prevented the flames from spreading and avoided further damage.
The vehicle fire caused some delays on the A2, but National Highways traffic officers helped manage the situation, ensuring commuter safety and keeping traffic flowing as smoothly as possible during the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with initial indications suggesting it was accidental. Authorities are working to determine the exact cause to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service reminded drivers to regularly maintain their vehicles and remain alert while driving. They also encouraged motorists to report emergencies immediately to enable fast intervention.
