Sussex police successfully apprehended two men after a stolen Range Rover Sport SVR was located and seized. The luxury SUV had been reported stolen from Lewes Road, Eastbourne, leading to a tense police pursuit on Monday night, March 4, at approximately 8:45 pm.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit (RPU) attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated away, turning the stop into a high-speed chase. The National Police Air Service (NPAS) and Specialist Enforcement Unit (SEU) collaborated to track the stolen SUV to Peacehaven, where the suspects were ultimately caught.
A 31-year-old man faces multiple charges including vehicle theft, dangerous driving, failing to comply with police orders, and driving while disqualified. His 32-year-old accomplice was arrested on similar charges. Both men, who are local to Newhaven, remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
The recovered Range Rover is currently undergoing forensic examination to collect further evidence related to the case.
