Emergency services responded urgently after a child was struck by a vehicle on Reede Road, Dagenham, on Sunday, December 1, shortly after 3 PM. Eyewitnesses reported that the car involved was driven by a woman.
The child suffered serious head injuries in the collision. Metropolitan Police officers arrived first at the scene and provided critical first aid before paramedics from the London Ambulance Service transported the child to a specialist trauma centre for treatment.
Reede Road remains closed in both directions as police conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. The road closure has led to significant travel disruption in the local area. Bus route 364 is currently being diverted via Parsloes Avenue and Heathway to accommodate the closure. Authorities have advised drivers to avoid the area and use alternative routes to reduce delays.
The Metropolitan Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from near Reede Road around the time of the crash. Officers are working diligently to identify the driver responsible and to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
