Police responded swiftly to reports of a violent attack at a residence on Fishponds Road, Tooting, at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, 4 December.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service found a man in his late 70s inside the house with knife wounds. He was immediately taken to hospital, where medical staff confirmed his injuries are serious but not life-threatening or life-changing.

A 45-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody as inquiries continue. The Metropolitan Police have stated that the public is not at risk.

Local residents expressed shock and concern following the attack. One neighbour commented, “It’s terrifying to hear something like this happen so close to home, especially involving someone so vulnerable.”

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact police on 101 or to report anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
