A woman tragically died after being hit by a car that crashed into a building on Eastern Avenue, Ilford, on Saturday afternoon, 7 December 2024.
Emergency services, including officers from the Metropolitan Police, paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, London Air Ambulance medics, and London Fire Brigade crews, rushed to the scene at around 4:10pm.
Despite frantic efforts to save her, the pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after 5pm. The victim, who is believed to have been out Christmas shopping and on her way to see family, has not yet been named. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and has been questioned by police. No arrests have been made.
Several roads in the area remain closed as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The pedestrian, a woman, was treated at the scene but, despite best efforts, was pronounced dead shortly after 17:00hrs.
Her next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has been spoken to. They have not been arrested.
