A 70-year-old man was found unresponsive in a car park on Orangery Lane, near Archery Road in Eltham (SE9), earlier today, January 21. Emergency services arrived just before 11:15am, where police and London Ambulance crews attempted to save him.
Tragically, the man was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious. The man’s next of kin have been informed, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
“Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to Orangery Lane, SE9, to a report of an unresponsive man at 11:13 hrs on Tuesday, 21 January. Sadly, a 70-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed. His death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
The area remained cordoned off for several hours while police conducted their investigation. Although no foul play is suspected, local residents were left shaken by the sudden death.
One local passerby commented, “It’s very sad to hear something like this has happened here.”
