Greater Manchester Police arrested four suspects in Bolton during early morning raids on Thursday, 5 February 2026. The arrests are directly connected to a fatal collision last month that claimed four lives.
Officers executed simultaneous warrants in Ladybridge and Bolton town centre, supported by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Trading Standards in a coordinated operation.
A 42-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of fraud. A 22-year-old man faces charges of handling stolen goods, while an 18-year-old man was detained for aggravated vehicle theft. All four remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
The arrests relate to a tragic crash on Wigan Road at approximately 12:45am on Sunday, 11 January 2026. A red Seat Leon collided with a Citroen C4 Picasso, resulting in the immediate deaths of four men: the driver and two passengers in the Seat, and the driver of the Citroen. Five other passengers were taken to hospital, including one woman who was critically injured but is now in stable condition.
Specialist officers are providing ongoing support to the families of the victims during this difficult time.
Detective Inspector Andrew Page, head of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said, “Our investigation into this tragic incident has led to four arrests following warrants in Bolton this morning. We have increased patrols in Bolton, with PCSOs on the streets to reassure the public and answer questions.”
He added, “We urgently need anyone who saw the vehicles before or during the crash, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact us.”
