Three young men, aged 16, 17, and 18, were arrested on Friday, March 26, in connection with the murder of a Leigh man. Following a court hearing at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, March 27, the suspects will remain in custody for an additional 36 hours.
Emergency crews recovered the body of a man from the Leeds and Liverpool canal early on Thursday, March 25, prompting police to launch a murder investigation. The victim was later identified as 33-year-old Scott Anderton from Leigh.
Detectives confirmed that Scott Anderton died from multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma. His family has been informed of his death and is receiving specialist support as the investigation continues.
