Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has launched a full investigation following reports of malicious communications sent to schools across Manchester. The police force is collaborating closely with partner agencies to ensure the safety and security of the community.
Detective Inspector Michelle Buchanan from GMP’s City of Manchester District highlighted the seriousness of the situation. She confirmed that officers are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry to uncover the source of these alarming messages.
So far, no credible threat has been identified within the messages. Despite this, GMP is conducting a thorough and detailed investigation. The police have increased their visible presence in the area, emphasizing that this is intended solely to reassure the public.
“We ask the public not to be alarmed by an increased visible policing presence – officers are simply there to provide reassurance, ensure public safety, and to listen to any community concerns,” a GMP spokesperson stated.
The community, including parents, teachers, and local residents, remains concerned about the safety of schools and neighbourhoods. GMP is dedicated to easing these concerns and taking all necessary measures to protect the public and maintain peace throughout Manchester.
