Shock and sorrow hit Rochdale after Kerry Newman, 40, was found dead on New Barn Lane. The loving mum of two boys was discovered in the early hours of Monday, July 17, sparking a police probe into her suspicious death.
Just after 4:30am, police responded to a welfare concern on New Barn Lane. They arrived to find Kerry’s lifeless body. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) quickly launched a murder investigation, determined to uncover what led to this heartbreaking loss.
“A loving daughter and mother of two boys, taken away from us too soon. She is now in heaven with the angels. Rest in peace, our beautiful girl,” said Kerry’s grieving mother and stepfather. The family has asked for privacy during this devastating time.
GMP have arrested a 48-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman on suspicion of murder connected to Kerry’s death. The pair remain in custody while detectives dig deeper. Investigations reveal Kerry was taken from a Freehold address to New Barn Lane, where she was found dead. The exact cause of death has not been disclosed.
Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Smith, leading the Major Incident Team, extended sympathies to Kerry’s family. She confirmed officers are chasing all leads and urged anyone with information to step forward.
