At 5pm on Monday, March 20, a 14-year-old boy was approached by a man driving an orange and black Mini in Hazel Grove. The vehicle was parked in a layby on Jacksons Lane when the driver asked the boy to get into his car.
When the boy refused, the man then drove slowly behind him along Jacksons Lane. Fortunately, the boy managed to reach home safely without harm.
Following the incident, police arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of attempted abduction. He remains in custody for questioning.
Greater Manchester Police are urging anyone who was in the area before, during, or after the incident to come forward. Authorities are particularly interested in any dashcam or doorbell footage that could assist with the investigation.
Detective Inspector Chris Aunins of GMP’s Stockport division said, “I understand this incident may cause concern amongst the community, and I would like to reassure residents that we are working around the clock to investigate it. If you were driving along Jackson’s Lane at 5pm on Monday, March 20, and have any information, please contact GMP on 0161 856 9616 quoting log number 2697 of 20/3/2023.”
