At around 5pm on Monday, March 20, a 14-year-old boy was targeted in a shocking attempted abduction on Jacksons Lane, Hazel Grove. The boy was approached by a man driving an orange and black Mini, who was parked in a layby on the lane.
The driver asked the boy to get into his car before slowly tailing him along Jacksons Lane. Fortunately, the brave youngster managed to escape and get back home safely.
Following the incident, Greater Manchester Police arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of attempted abduction. The suspect remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Chris Aunins of GMP’s Stockport division said, “I understand this incident may cause concern amongst the community. We are working around the clock to investigate it. If you were driving along Jacksons Lane at that time, please get in touch.”
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area around 5pm on March 20 to come forward. They are particularly interested in dashcam or doorbell footage that could assist with the investigation.
