Police were called to Chapel Walk, Middleton, at approximately 9am on Friday following a robbery at a local shop. A staff member was opening the premises when a masked man forced his way inside and compelled her to unlock the safe.
The suspect, described as a white, stocky male around 5ft 7-8in tall, was dressed entirely in black, including a hoodie, baseball cap, jogging bottoms, and a face mask. He threatened the worker and demanded a large sum of cash before escaping on foot towards Foxall Street.
Officers believe the man may have been in the area the day before the incident. They are urgently seeking anyone with information or footage from CCTV, dashcams, or doorbell cameras that could assist the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Christopher Shannon, of GMP Rochdale Division, said: “This is a concerning incident and the local community should know we’re working hard to investigate. Anyone with information should come forward as it could be vital to our enquiries.”
