Greater Manchester Police are actively hunting a gang following a brutal robbery that took place on Woodside Avenue, Burnage, on Monday, November 13, around 6pm.
A 48-year-old man was confronted by a group of young males wielding a knife. The gang stole his silver Toyota Corolla and then shockingly ran over him as he attempted to block their escape.
The victim sustained severe injuries and has undergone emergency surgery. He remains in hospital receiving treatment, with doctors warning of possible lasting effects.
Detective Inspector Kelly of South Manchester CID described the attack as “senseless and random,” condemning the horrific violence involved. She added, “Our team is following several leads to catch these offenders.”
The offenders abandoned the stolen vehicle on Shawbrook Road, and police are particularly keen to trace their escape route.
