Young drug dealer Sergio Pereira, 21, from Salford, was apprehended by Peterborough police after he was seen dumping a large stash of drugs on the streets. Pereira made a desperate dash down the streets of Peterborough, throwing bags of crack cocaine and heroin as officers closed in on him. Despite his attempt to discard the drugs, police caught him red-handed and he is now behind bars.
On 10 December, officers observed Pereira loitering with known drug users on Dickens Street in Eastfield. Upon spotting the police, he fled down Padholme Road while frantically tossing packets of Class A drugs. The police seized more than 125 wraps containing heroin and crack cocaine, a quantity sufficient to flood the local streets.
At Huntingdon Law Courts on 23 March, Pereira pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine, as well as possession of criminal property. The judge sentenced him to 21 months in a young offenders institution.
Detective Constable Igor Simonov commented, “This was a great spot by our neighbourhood officers responding to community concerns about drug dealing. Drug dealing and the associated criminality hit the community hard. We urge everyone to report any concerns.”
