Philip Blanch, a paedophile from Lowestoft, Suffolk, has been sentenced after sexually assaulting a boy aged 12 to 13 between 1975 and 1977. Despite the serious nature of his crimes, Blanch was given a 24-month sentence for each count, to be served concurrently and suspended for 24 months.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Blanch must adhere to a strict four-month curfew, which is electronically monitored from 7pm to 7am. He has also been ordered to pay £1,500 in court costs.
The court disclosed that Blanch has a long history of abuse, including 11 other sexual offences against young boys that took place between the 1960s and 1980s in the Runnymede area.
Blanch’s previous convictions highlight his status as a serial predator. In 2014, at Guildford Crown Court, he was found guilty of three counts of indecent assault and three counts of sexual assault. He was sentenced to 40 months in prison and placed on the Sexual Offenders Register for life.
Detective Constable Fiona Clare, who led the investigation, praised the victim’s courage. She said, “Philip Blanch is a predatory sexual offender who groomed and assaulted his young victim over several years. The victim, a golf club caddy, initially trusted Blanch, but he exploited that trust for his own gratification. I commend the victim for his bravery in giving evidence and helping bring Blanch to justice.”
