Tragedy struck early on Thursday morning, 8 October, when a 33-year-old cyclist from Takeley was killed in a collision with a Vauxhall Zafira on the A414 in North Weald.

Police were called to the scene at around 5.20am, where the cyclist suffered fatal injuries at the junction with Vicarage Lane. Emergency services, including paramedics and the air ambulance, rushed to the location but the man sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the Vauxhall Zafira sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The A414 road was closed for several hours while officers conducted a thorough examination of the crash site.

Officers are now urgently appealing for information from the drivers of two vehicles seen passing the scene shortly after the collision. Both vehicles were heading towards Harlow, and witnesses could hold crucial details about the incident.
