Anthony Harrison, 55, a convicted sex offender, has been jailed for three years and ten months after police found more than 27,000 indecent child sexual abuse images and videos on his electronic devices.
The father of two used his elderly parents’ laptop in Newton Aycliffe to store disgusting material onto a memory stick before transferring it back to his own laptop at his home in Darlington.
Teesside Crown Court heard that Harrison went missing from his registered address without informing the authorities. A routine police check of his electronic gadgets led to his arrest.
Prosecutor Phillip Morley revealed that Harrison secretly stayed at his parents’ home for almost a week to avoid supervision.
Harrison admitted that police would find indecent images across his laptop and various memory sticks. The collection included over 500 top-level category A images, 3,000 category B images, and approximately 24,000 category C images.
The vile pictures depicted children aged between three and 15 years old, including horrific penetrative abuse of toddlers.
Judge Recorder Anthony Hawk condemned Harrison’s “serious problem with paedophilia” and stated, “You think it’s harmless to just look at this filth online? You couldn’t be more wrong. Your sick obsession fuels this disgusting market and you are complicit in the abuse of innocent kids.”
Harrison pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing indecent images, breaching a sexual harm prevention order, and failing to notify police about his whereabouts.
He now faces years behind bars for his vile crimes.
