A 76-year-old man from Bilston has been charged with the murder of a Tipton taxi driver nearly 18 years after the crime shocked the Midlands. David Harrison is accused of fatally shooting 39-year-old Harun Khan outside his home on Tudor Street on the evening of 3 March 2008.
West Midlands Police confirmed that Harrison will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on 6 January 2026 to face the murder charge. Harun Khan, a devoted father of four, was rushed to hospital following the attack at 9:25pm but sadly died shortly afterwards.
In addition to the murder charge, Harrison faces further allegations related to a shooting in Dudley in December 2007. He is accused of seriously wounding a 27-year-old man during the incident on Farthings Lane. Furthermore, Harrison has been charged with two counts of illegal firearm possession.
The arrest of David Harrison represents a significant breakthrough for West Midlands Police in a case that had remained unsolved for many years. The police force has expressed its commitment to securing justice and providing closure for the victims’ families.
