A Rhondda couple have been sentenced to jail after being caught engaging in sexual activity in broad daylight in the outdoor seating area of a popular café in Talbot Green.

The incident took place on February 23, 2026, and was recorded by CCTV cameras. The footage prompted the café owner to alert the authorities.

Anthony Evans, 42, and Leah Evans, 37, appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court four days after the incident. Both pleaded guilty to charges of outraging public decency and criminal damage.

Each was sentenced to three months in prison for their actions.

Police officer PC Ffion Hiscutt described the couple’s behaviour as “unacceptable” and a “deplorable act in a public place, clearly visible to the public.”

She added, “They now have a short stint in prison to think about their actions.”
