A woman in her 50s was seriously injured after being struck by a car in the Lidl car park on Goldsmith Avenue, Portsmouth, on Wednesday morning.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed in Milton Park to provide urgent medical treatment at the scene.

South Central Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulances to the incident at 11.21am, while Hampshire Police officers and two fire appliances from Hampshire Fire and Rescue also attended promptly.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service stated, “The pedestrian was a female aged in her mid-50s who had sustained serious injuries – she has been taken to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton by road with the air ambulance crew travelling with her.”

The driver of the car involved is currently being taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital for further assessment.
