Just before 10.40pm on 11 May 2022, police were called to Burlington Avenue, Oldham, after a 39-year-old man was attacked with a liquid believed to be acid.
The victim answered his front door when a man threw liquid from a bottle at him. The attacker then fled on foot towards Manley Road. Witnesses reported that the attacker arrived at the address accompanied by another male.
Emergency teams treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to hospital. He suffered serious facial burns but is now in stable condition and his injuries are not life-threatening.
Detectives from Oldham CID, working alongside Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, are investigating to identify the liquid used and to track down the suspects. Officers believe the victim knew the attacker and that the assault was deliberately targeted.
No arrests have been made so far. Police are urging anyone with information to contact Greater Manchester Police via their LiveChat or by calling 101, quoting incident 3391 of 11/05/2022.
